Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Cut the FOMO handles account, analysis, profile-scan, screenshot, and purchase data.

Overview

Cut the FOMO gives you a private pause before acting on persuasive social media content. We use the data you submit to provide the check you request, protect the service from abuse, manage credits, and keep the product reliable.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use submitted posts or screenshots to build advertising profiles. Screenshots are processed to extract text and are not stored by Cut the FOMO.

Information we process

Account and sign-in data

We receive an account identifier and, when available, a verified email address. We store the account identifier, email address, credit balance, credit history, signup-device hash, and related timestamps in our service infrastructure.

Posts, links, and profile scans

We process the text, public social-media link, or public Instagram profile you submit. Quick checks analyze the supplied content. Deep checks may also search public sources. Profile scans may retrieve a public bio, recent public posts, public bio-link content, audio transcripts, and selected visual context from public reels.

Screenshots

Screenshots are sent for text extraction and are not stored by Cut the FOMO. We may retain operational metadata such as file size, extracted character count, language, model usage, response time, and a pseudonymous device hash. The screenshot bytes and extracted text are not written to the OCR event log.

Analysis and technical data

We record operational data needed to run and protect the service, including content and device hashes, an account identifier, platform, check type, score, detected signal types, language, token usage, latency, cache status, and source count. Raw post text, author identity, post URLs, cookies, IP addresses, and browsing history are not written to the analysis-event log. An IP-derived signal may be used temporarily to limit abusive signup volume.

Check history

For signed-in users, we keep a per-account list of past checks so you can review what you have already checked. Each entry records the check type, platform, the public link and author or profile name you submitted (when a link was used), the score, the verdict, and the detected signal types. It does not store post text or screenshot content. You can delete individual entries or clear your history at any time, and entries are retained for 90 days.

Purchases

Our payment processor handles checkout and payment details. Cut the FOMO receives transaction status, the purchased credit pack, payment-customer references, and identifiers needed to apply or reverse credits. We do not receive or store full payment-card numbers.

How we use information

  • Provide Quick, Deep, profile, and screenshot checks.
  • Show quoted evidence and public sources in your result.
  • Operate sign-in, free-credit grants, purchases, and balances.
  • Cache repeated checks to reduce cost and response time.
  • Detect abuse, enforce usage limits, and secure the service.
  • Measure reliability and improve product performance.

Storage and retention

Analysis caches can retain a result, including short evidence excerpts, for up to 30 days. Profile-scan caches and public-source context can also be retained for up to 30 days. Analysis, OCR, and profile operational event records are scheduled for deletion after 90 days. Your per-account check history is also scheduled for deletion after 90 days. Daily global counters are scheduled for deletion after one year.

Account, credit-ledger, transaction, fraud-prevention, and tax-related records may be retained while your account is active and afterward when needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, comply with law, or keep required financial records. Retention jobs depend on the production database being configured as described in our deployment documentation.

Service infrastructure

We use carefully selected infrastructure and payment providers to operate the service. They process only the information needed to provide their part of the service, under contractual privacy and security commitments. Data may be processed in countries other than the one where you live.

Your choices and rights

You can choose what content to submit and can use pasted text instead of a public link or screenshot. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to object to certain processing.

To make a privacy request, use the support contact shown in the product or in your purchase receipt. We may need to verify that you control the relevant account before completing a request.

Security and children

We use access controls, authenticated API requests, row-level database security, rate limits, pseudonymous identifiers, and limited retention to reduce risk. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Cut the FOMO is a general-audience tool and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it when appropriate.

Cookies and local storage

Cut the FOMO does not use advertising or marketing trackers, so we don't show a cookie consent banner. Our aggregate performance analytics are cookieless. The table below lists every cookie, and every browser storage entry, that the product itself sets.
